From expressive vessels to statement installations, Salado Glassworks creates one-of-a-kind glass sculpture by hand in Salado, Texas.
Every piece begins as molten glass and is transformed through heat, movement, color, and the skill of our hot-shop team. The result is a work of art that changes with the light, rewards a closer look, and brings a distinctive presence to its surroundings.
Every sculpture starts with an idea—a color, a memory, a place, or simply a shape you can’t stop thinking about. From there, Gail and the Salado Glassworks team use heat, movement, and years of experience to give that idea form.
Take a look through some of the pieces we’ve created over the years. Some began as experiments in color and shape, while others were commissioned for a specific person or space. If something catches your eye or sparks an idea of your own, we’d love to hear about it.
For more than twenty years, artist Gail Allard has explored the possibilities of blown glass through color, movement, texture, and light.
Led by Gail and supported by the Salado Glassworks hot-shop team, every sculpture is created in our working studio in the heart of Salado, Texas. The work balances thoughtful design with the natural movement of molten glass, allowing each finished piece to retain the energy of the process that formed it.
Some sculptures are created as a single expressive form. Others are made from multiple individually crafted elements that come together as a larger composition. In every case, the work is designed to feel intentional, original, and connected to the place where it will live.
Every custom project begins with a conversation. Whether the piece is designed for a home, a business, or a special commission, our process is centered around collaboration, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design. From the initial idea to the final installation, we work closely with each client to ensure the finished piece reflects both the space and the vision behind it.
We begin by discussing your idea, where the sculpture will be displayed, its approximate size, preferred colors, budget, and timeline.
Our team develops the form, scale, color palette, and overall direction, considering how the sculpture will relate to its surroundings.
You’ll receive a proposal outlining the design, project scope, pricing, estimated timeline, and delivery or installation requirements.
The piece is carefully handcrafted in our hot shop, where molten glass is shaped and refined by our artists.
After forming, the glass is slowly cooled in the annealing oven and inspected to ensure strength, clarity, and craftsmanship.
Once complete, the finished piece is prepared for pickup, shipment, or professional installation depending on the project.
Whether you are searching for a single statement piece or artwork designed for a particular home, business, or public space, Salado Glassworks can help shape the idea into something entirely your own.
