Good lighting makes a space usable. Great lighting gives it a point of view.
Salado Glassworks creates custom hand-blown lighting for homes, businesses, and gathering spaces. From a single pendant to a large statement installation, every project is designed around the room—its scale, architecture, colors, and the way people experience it.
A pendant over a kitchen island has a different job than a chandelier in a two-story entry or a group of lights in a restaurant. That’s why we design around the room instead of starting with a catalog number.
Take a look through some of the lighting we’ve created. Some pieces are quiet and understated; others become the first thing you notice when you walk in. If one gets you thinking, send us a few photos of your space and tell us what caught your eye.
Every shade and glass element is blown by hand in the Salado Glassworks hot shop. Gail and the team shape the glass while it is still hot and moving, building color, texture, and character directly into each form.
When the light is off, the glass stands on its own as an art object. When it is turned on, the color, movement, and depth inside the glass come to life.
Because each component is handmade, no two are perfectly identical. Those small differences are what give a multi-piece fixture its rhythm and keep the finished installation from feeling factory-made.
Every custom Lighting project begins with a conversation. Whether the piece is designed for a home, a business, or a special commission, our process is centered around collaboration, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design. From the initial idea to the final installation, we work closely with each client to ensure the finished piece reflects both the space and the vision behind it.
Send us photographs, plans, approximate dimensions, ceiling height, and any existing electrical locations. We’ll also talk about how the room is used and what you want the lighting to feel like.
Together, we’ll explore glass shapes, colors, fixture size, number of pieces, and how the lights should be arranged within the space.
We’ll prepare a proposal covering the design direction, project scope, pricing, estimated schedule, and delivery or installation needs.
Each shade or sculptural component is formed by hand in our hot shop. Color is added, the glass is shaped, and every piece is created specifically for the project.
After the glass cools, each component is inspected and prepared with the appropriate fixture elements. We confirm the arrangement and final details before delivery.
Depending on the project, the completed lighting can be prepared for pickup, shipped, delivered, or coordinated for professional installation.
Whether you’re lighting a kitchen island, dining room, stairwell, entryway, office, restaurant, or another one-of-a-kind space, we can create something that feels like it has always belonged there.
Send us a few photos, measurements, or inspiration images. It doesn’t have to be fully figured out—that’s where the conversation begins.
If you have a custom glass project in mind, we’d love to hear about it.
Tell us a little about your idea, the space, or the type of piece you’re interested in, and our team will follow up to start the conversation.
