A great bowl or vase doesn’t need an occasion. It can hold flowers, anchor a table, finish a shelf, or simply make an empty corner feel considered.
Every custom vessel from Salado Glassworks is shaped by hand in our Texas hot shop. You choose the direction—color, size, form, and feeling—and we turn it into a piece that is entirely your own.
Some pieces begin with a room that needs color. Others start with a favorite palette, a meaningful place, or an impossible-to-find shape.
Browse a few of the bowls and vases we’ve created over the years. You may find exactly the direction you want, or one small detail that leads somewhere completely new.
There is only a short window when molten glass can be stretched, opened, folded, and shaped. Gail and the Salado Glassworks team work together in the heat of the hot shop, responding to the glass while guiding it toward the intended form.
Color can be layered, twisted, swirled, or allowed to move naturally through the piece. Rims may stay clean and balanced or open into loose, expressive curves. Bases can feel light and delicate or thick and grounded.
The process leaves its mark on every finished vessel. Small differences in line, color, and movement aren’t flaws—they’re how you know the piece was made by hand.
You don’t need a finished design before contacting us. A photograph, color palette, approximate size, or general feeling is enough to begin.
Tell us whether you’re interested in a bowl or vase, where it will be displayed, and what you’re drawn to.
We’ll work through the form, approximate size, colors, pattern, rim style, and overall character of the piece.
You’ll receive the proposed direction, pricing, estimated timeline, and pickup or shipping information before we begin.
Our artists gather and shape the molten glass by hand, adding color and building the form in the Salado hot shop.
The vessel is slowly cooled in the annealing oven, inspected, and finished before leaving the studio.
Once complete, your piece can be picked up at the gallery or prepared for shipping or delivery, depending on the project.
Maybe you know exactly what you want. Maybe you only know the spot where something is missing.
Send us a photograph of the space, a few colors, an approximate size, or examples of pieces you love. We’ll help turn that starting point into a bowl or vase made specifically for you.
If you have a custom glass project in mind, we’d love to hear about it.
Tell us a little about your idea, the space, or the type of piece you’re interested in, and our team will follow up to start the conversation.
Every custom project begins with a conversation. We’ll review your message and reach out to learn more about your vision.
